SYCOPE CLOUD

Your AWS bill shows what you paid but it does not always explain why.

Unexpected increases in cloud spending

CHALLENGES

High NAT Gateway and data-transfer costs

Traffic flowing between Availability Zones, VPCs or regions without a clear business reason

Resources that generate costs but provide little or no value

Limited visibility across multiple AWS accounts and VPCs

Difficulty connecting infrastructure activity with its financial impact

Incomplete tagging and unclear resource ownership

Sycope Cloud analyses network activity and adds the context needed to understand where costs originate and which areas deserve closer investigation.

Unexpected increases in cloud spending

Turn AWS traffic data into practical insights

COST OPTIMISATION

Identify traffic patterns, services and infrastructure decisions that may be increasing AWS costs.

ENVIRONMENT VISIBILITY

Understand what is communicating across accounts, VPCs, regions and Availability Zones.

SECURITY CONTEXT

Detect unexpected communication, unusual traffic directions and potentially unused resources that may increase the attack surface.

GOVERNANCE

Improve resource ownership, tagging practices and control over complex AWS environments.

QUESTIONS YOU WILL ANSWER

Which traffic is generating

the highest data-transfer costs?

Why is traffic passing through a NAT Gateway?

Which systems communicate across Availability Zones?

Are there resources that appear to be idle or underused?

Which accounts or VPCs generate unexpected traffic?

Are workloads communicating in unusual directions?

Which services or resources should be investigated first?

Where could changes to the AWS architecture reduce unnecessary costs?

Who should apply

Have a meaningful AWS footprint

Use multiple accounts, VPCs or Availability Zones

Have noticeable NAT Gateway or data-transfer costs

Want to better understand

the reasons behind their AWS bill

INTENDED FOR ORGANISATION THAT:

Can enable VPC Flow Logs in Parquet format

Have a FinOps, cloud-platform or infrastructure owner

Can involve an AWS engineer during onboarding

Are willing to provide regular, practical product feedback

APPLY & SCOPE

Regular feedback sessions help influence product development. At the end, you receive a final review and may also receive an optional commercial offer.

We review the first observations together and identify the areas that deserve deeper investigation.

If your organisation is accepted, we agree the initial scope and guide your engineer through deployment in your AWS account.

Tell us about your organisation, AWS environment and main challenges. We’ll then discuss your cloud estate, traffic profile, cost questions and technical readiness.

FAQ

WHAT IS THE EARLY ACCESS PROGRAM?
We are opening Sycope Cloud to ten organisations before general availability. You get a free 12-month licence, free onboarding, and direct access to the people building the product. We get real environments to learn from and honest feedback about what matters in practice.
We are saying this plainly because it shapes everything else: this is an exchange, not a giveaway. The product is young and not feature complete, and your input will visibly change where it goes next.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
The licence and the support are free for the full 12 months. There are no fees, and no obligation to buy anything afterwards.
You pay your own AWS costs, because the product runs in your account. That means VPC Flow Log generation and S3 storage, two Lambda functions, and one EC2 instance running our AMI. For most environments this is a modest, predictable monthly amount, and we will size it with you during the scoping call before you commit to anything.
WHO CAN APPLY, AND HOW DO YOU CHOOSE?
Anyone can apply — the application is open. We review every application and select ten participants.
We are looking for real AWS environments with enough network traffic that cost questions are actually interesting, and for a technical contact who is willing to talk to us regularly. Company size and industry matter much less to us than those two things.
WHERE DOES MY DATA GOES?
Nowhere. Sycope Cloud is deployed entirely inside your AWS account, the same way you would run any AMI from AWS Marketplace. Your flow logs, resource metadata, and analysis results never leave your infrastructure, and we have no access to them.
The only exception is what you choose to show us during a support call — a screen share or a log extract — and that is always your decision. We will sign an NDA or a data processing agreement if your organisation requires one.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DEPLOY, AND HOW LONG DOES ONBOARDING TAKE?
You need VPC Flow Logs enabled in Parquet format, an S3 bucket for them, two Lambda functions, one EC2 instance from our AMI, and read-only IAM roles so the product can see your resource inventory. Everything the product needs is read-only — it never modifies your infrastructure.
The deployment itself is short. The realistic path is a scoping call, then a working session where we deploy alongside you. Plan for a few hours of your engineer's time, plus whatever your internal change approval requires. You will also want flow logs running for a couple of weeks before the cost findings get genuinely useful, since the analysis depends on observed traffic patterns.
WHAT DOES SYCOPE CLOUD ACTUALLY DO TODAY?
Three things, and they work now:
  • Unused and idle infrastructure discovery — resources you are paying for that nothing is actually talking to, proven by absence of network flows rather than inferred from CPU metrics.
  • NAT Gateway analysis — over-provisioning, misconfiguration, and traffic taking an expensive path when a cheaper one exists. This is usually where the first real money shows up.
  • Cost optimisation findings derived from the above, tied to specific resources rather than to aggregate line items.
The underlying idea is simple: your Cost and Usage Report tells you what you paid. VPC Flow Logs tell you why. Most FinOps tooling reads only the CUR, which is why network and data transfer spend stays unexplained.

WHAT DOESN'T IT DO YET?
It's for AWS only — no Azure or GCP at this stage. The product is not feature complete, coverage of AWS services is still expanding, and you should expect rough edges in the UI and occasional findings that need interpretation rather than immediate action. It is not a full FinOps suite and does not replace your CUR-based tooling; it addresses the part of the bill those tools cannot explain.
We would rather you hear this now than discover it in month two.
WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM ME?
One feedback call per month for the first six months, up to an hour, with the engineer or FinOps practitioner actually using the product. That is the only hard requirement, and it is the reason the Program exists.
Everything else is optional: surveys, testing pre-release builds, letting us use your logo, or a case study. You can say no to all of it and stay in the Program.
WHAT SUPPORT DO I GET?
Remote support over Microsoft Teams and email, up to six hours a week for the first six months, covering onboarding, configuration, and interpreting what the product is telling you. You are talking to the team that builds it, not to a first-line queue.
There is no SLA. In practice you will get a fast answer; we are not going to pretend a free early access program comes with contractual response times.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER 12 MONTHS, AND CAN I LEAVE EARLIER?
About a month before the end we will get in touch and, if it makes sense for both sides, make you a commercial offer — early access participants are in a good position to negotiate terms. There is no obligation and no automatic renewal or charge. If you do nothing, the licence simply expires and you decommission the deployment.
You can withdraw at any point, with immediate effect and without giving a reason. We would appreciate a short conversation about why, but it is not a condition.
